The PAI is the national governing body (NGB) for sport parachuting in the Republic of Ireland. The Association sets and maintains standards for safety, training and operations. It operates under the rules laid down by the Irish Aviation Authority.

It has a number of affiliated Parachute Centres/Clubs and issues certifications and ratings to members. The PAI represents Irish sport parachuting at national and international levels and organises competitive skydiving and parachuting events at national level.
